Your first program
in Extella
Connect your device, save a small calculation and run it with different parameters. You start without files or external services.
Install · Connect a device · Save and run
If an AI model is not available, you can save the program and call it directly through the API. There is a step-by-step Python example for this.
01Install Extella
Install the app and sign in to your Extella account.
02Check the connection
The Extella executor, or Listener, accepts tasks on your device. Check that the status is Connected and get the Device ID through the agent:
To call through the API, pass the chosen Device ID in targets. The language handler and the program's dependencies must be available on the device. Preparing a device →
03Save the program
Through the agent:
add_two_numbers_v1 in Fython. It takes numbers a and b and returns their sum in the field total. No access to files or the network. First check that the name is free and show me the code. Do not overwrite an existing program.Program code:
def add_two_numbers_v1(a: float = 0, b: float = 0) -> dict:
return {"total": a + b}After saving, get the program by name and compare the code.
Saving under a name that is already taken replaces the previous code. Saving and versions →
04Call it twice
Ask the agent to call the saved program add_two_numbers_v1 on the chosen device with a = 5, b = 7. Then ask it to repeat the call with a = 2, b = 3 without changing the code.
| Parameters | Expected total |
|---|---|
a: 5, b: 7 | 12 |
a: 2, b: 3 | 5 |
Check the call record: the same program must run by name. The model's text answer alone does not confirm that the code ran.
Next, you can replace the simple calculation with your own task or call the same program directly from code.
Save and call through the API →Before you work with real data
The program runs with the executor's rights on the device. The call and the result pass through the Extella service. Check the code, the access rights and the data you return first. A separate Python environment is not a security sandbox.
